“Hosting the Olympics is a longtime dream” Indian Prime Minister Modi hopes for 2036 Games

India has made a strong bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his country’s intention to bid for the 2036 Summer

Olympics in his opening address to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Mumbai, India,

the BBC reported on Friday.

“Hosting the Olympic Games is a long-standing dream of India, and we want to realize this dream with

the cooperation and support of the IOC members,” Modi said.

India has hosted the Summer Asian Games twice, in 1951 and 1982, but has never hosted both the

Summer and Winter Olympics.

Only three other Asian cities have hosted the Summer Olympics: Tokyo, Japan (1964-2021), Seoul, South

Korea (1988), and Beijing, China (2008).

The next Summer Games will be held in Paris, France, in 2024, Los Angeles, USA, in 2028, and Brisbane,

Australia, in 2032.

India will be competing with Mexico, Indonesia and Poland, who have all submitted bids for the 2036

Summer Olympics.

Mexico will be bidding to host the Summer Games for the second time, 68 years after the 1968 edition,

while Indonesia and Poland will be bidding for the first time. 스포츠토토링크
