Busan Myeongji U-10, a team with an average age of three months, had one goal in mind.
The 26th Busan Metropolitan Mayor’s Cup U-10 Basketball Competition was held at the Busan Sports Center on the 27th. A total of eight teams participated, with the second place finishers in each group receiving a ticket to the finals.
Team Busan, which has been traveling around the country playing basketball as a promotional team since opening a dedicated gymnasium in April, competed against other teams in the 바카라사이트 Busan area.
Team Busan Basketball Class participated in the tournament with two teams, Team Busan and Team Myeongji. In Group A, Team Busan, led by star player Nam Young-jae, went 2-1 in the preliminary round and advanced to the semifinals as second in the group. However, they lost to KCC Junior in a tightly contested match at the final gate and left the tournament with a 7-8 loss.
On the other hand, Team Myungji (Lee Ye-joon, Kim Seyoon, Baek Jin-wook, Kwon Woo-hyun, Lee Ji-hwan, Park Chang-ha) in Group B finished the group stage with three losses and failed to avoid qualification. Although they underperformed compared to Team Busan, they garnered more attention. This was the team’s first official competition since its formation.
The average basketball experience of a roster player is three months. Since they had just picked up a basketball, their main goal was to gain experience rather than win. In the U-10 league, which is dominated by fourth graders, Team Myungji was composed of mostly third graders.
The team’s goal was not to win a game, but to score a goal.
It didn’t take long for the team to achieve their goal. Against their second opponent in the qualifiers, Hi-Sports, they scored four points from free throws alone.
With only 10 minutes to play in the first half, the team was unable to quench their thirst for scoring in the first half. The second half followed a similar pattern, until Lee Sung-hyun’s free throw hit the rim with 1:31 left in the game to give the team their first points.
Although the team lost the game 4-18, Myungji Sung-hyun (3 points) and Park Chang-ha (1 point) also contributed to the team’s first official tournament appearance.
Although the team fell short of victory, it is hoped that this tournament will help Team Myungji, who have only just touched the basketball, grow even more.
