Ha-Sung Kim (29) homered for the first time in 40 games

San Diego Padres outfielder Ha-Sung Kim (29) homered for the first time in 40 games, but San Diego saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

Kim went 1-for-3 with a double, a home run, two RBIs, one run scored and one walk while starting in the No. 8 spot at shortstop against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday (July 17) at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The home run gave him 47 career home runs in 119 games (91-for-397) with 11 home runs, 47 RBIs, 60 runs scored, 22 doubles and a .693 OPS, moving him past Kang Jung-ho (46) for third place on the all-time Korean home run list.

San Diego’s starting lineup was Luis Arares (designated hitter), Jurickson Profar (left field), Jake Cronenweth (first base), Manny Machado (third base), Xander Bogaerts (second base), Jackson Merrill (center field), David Peralta (right field), Ha-Sung Kim (shortstop), and Kyle Higashioka (catcher). Ha-Sung Kim hit his 11th home run of the season and Bogart hit his sixth home run of the season.

Starter Matt Waldron took the loss,

Allowing seven runs on nine hits (two homers) with one walk and six strikeouts in 5⅔ innings. The bullpen of Yuki Matsui (1 1/3 scoreless innings) and Jhon Reynolds (1 scoreless inning) pitched well but couldn’t change the outcome of the game. San Diego fell to 3-7, ending a three-game winning streak.

Colorado started Charlie Blackmon (designated hitter), Ezequiel Tovar (shortstop), Brenton Doyle (center field), Ryan McMahon (third base), Brendan Rodgers (second base), Michael Toglia (first base), Jake Cave (right field), Jacob Starling (catcher), 파워볼실시간 and Jordan Beck (left field). Rogers (10th of the season) and Blackmon (8th of the season) homered to lead the team to victory.

Starting pitcher Carl Quantrill earned the win, allowing three runs on six hits (two home runs) and two walks in five innings, striking out five and walking one. It was his eighth win of the season. The bullpen of Angel Chivili (one scoreless inning)-Lucas Gilbreath (⅔ scoreless inning)-Tyler Keanley (one scoreless inning)-Victor Bodnick (one scoreless inning) preserved the win.

San Diego had the bases loaded in the top of the first inning when Arares led off with a single, followed by a walk to Profar and a single by Cronenweth.

But Machado struck out and Bogart hit into a 5-4-3 double play to end the threat.

Colorado got on the board in the bottom of the first when Blackmon led off with a walk and Tovar singled to put runners on first and second. Doyle hit a grounder to shortstop to get the runners at second and third, but McMahon followed with an RBI single to center. Rogers quickly extended the lead to 4-0 with a three-run home run.

San Diego got on the board in the top of the second when Peralta led off with a single. With one out and one on, Kim took a 94.8 mph (152.6 km/h) three-pitch sinker from Quantrill for a chasing two-run homer over the left-field wall. It hit 102 mph (164.2 km/h) and traveled 405 feet (123 meters).

Colorado got back on the board in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Beck and a two-run homer by Blackmon. San Diego got a run back in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by leadoff hitter Bogartz. After Merrill singled to right, Peralta doubled and Kim walked, but Higashioka struck out and Araujo grounded out to third.

Merrill tripled to lead off the top of the sixth inning for San Diego. Peralta drew a walk to put runners on first and third, but Kim hit into a 5-4-3 double play.

Colorado added a run in the bottom of the sixth when Toglia led off with a double and Cave walked. Starling struck out, but Beck followed with an RBI single to drive in another run. Kim was retired in the top of the eighth on a wild pitch with two outs. The game ended without further scoring.
