Samsung Fire surges past OK Financial Group for third straight win

Samsung Fire, last place in professional volleyball last season, has turned things around. They swept OK Financial Group to extend their winning streak to three games.

Samsung Fire swept OK Financial Group 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) in three sets in a home match of the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Men’s Division at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on Sunday. The three-game winning streak improved Samsung Fire’s record to 3-1 (8 points), dropping OK Financial Group (5-2, 2-1) to second place.

The first set was won by foreign player Yosvani Hernandez, who exploded for 13 points. They closed out the set with a late attack at 24-23. In the second set, OK Financial Group’s reception was greatly shaken as Samsung Fire’s Korean counterparts joined the fray. After taking the second set 25-21, Samsung Fire closed out the match in the third set.

Yosubani scored a game-high 27 points, while Kim Jung-ho added 15 points and Park Sung-jin finished with nine points.

In the women’s match at Gwangju Pepper Stadium, traveling team GS Caltex battled Pepper Savings Bank to a full set before coming from behind to win 3-2 (21-25 23-25 25-20 25-19 15-12). GS Caltex, which won its opening three matches in a row, accumulated eight points to remain in third place.

No. 5 Pepper Savings Bank couldn’t get over the hump after winning the first two sets. They couldn’t find a 먹튀검증 breakthrough in the third set as their reception faltered. Pepper Savings Bank lost a close match and only managed to add one point to their win total.

GS Caltex foreign players Giselle Silva scored 40 points and Kang So-hwi scored 25 points.
